WILLIAMSBURG, Kentucky -- (RV) WVU Tech wrestling started its 2019-2020 campaign at the Patriot Open hosted by No. 7 University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg.
Sophomore Vincent DeVaney recorded 6.5 points at 197 lbs., finishing 3-2 on the day including a technical fall over Ike Murrell (Marian) 17-2 and a sudden victory over Harold Gilmore (Cumberlands) SV-1, 8-6.
Junior Logan Robertson finished the day with a record of 4-2. He posted a technical fall over Brennan Jennings (Tennessee) 17-2, major decision over Jacob Rhyne (Cumberlands) 14-2 and a 4-3 decision over Sam Glassco (Bellarmine) at 133 lbs.
Sophomore Leslie Campbell was 2-2 at 174 lbs., defeating Garrett Buena (Indiana Tech) with a 3-0 decision and recording a fall over Tony Costa (Tennessee) at 1:22.
Junior Nathan McClaugherty picked up a W (141 lbs.), posting a fall over Jaxon Wells (Cumberlands) at 1:28.
Sophomore Cameron Crislip (165 lbs.) was also victorious, earning a major decision over Chris McCollum (Brewton Parker) 16-5.
The Golden Bears will return to the mat on Wednesday, November 6 when they travel to West Liberty University for a dual.
