Edison's Matt Dunn won the lightweight matchup to put the Eagles up by two points. Williamstown's Zac McCray then won a forfeit at 85 pounds. Blennerhassett then crowned the next two champions. Chad Porter gained a pin at 90 pounds and Felix Osuna-Cotto won his third county title with a decision against Edison's Aaron Kelly. Osuna-Cotto became the 18th Wood County wrestler to claim three crowns.

At 102, Jackson's Josh Bailey won his title by injury default. Blennerhassett's Corey Porter then won another head-to-head matchup with a major decision at 110 pounds. This gave the Bobcats a 13 point lead against the Eagles.

Next was a key matchup at 116 pounds. Edison's Andy Eaton had beaten Blennerhassett's Drew Munson twice this season by decisions, 3-1 and 8-7. Munson had won one match against Eaton, 7-6, and was a defending County Chammpion, having beaton Eaton in last year's finals. Munson was leading Eaton 2-1 in the second period won he was taken down to the mat and injured his elbow. Munson then had to default his match giving the Eagles two additional team points. The two points would prove critical in the end result.

Blennerhassett then won the next two titles at 123 and 128. Shaun Smith captured the 123 pound title with a pin and last year's Outstanding Wrestler, Seth Young won his second title in another head-to-head matchup with a 7-2 decision. His victory put the Bobcats up 17 points. The strength of Edison's team then came to center mat in the next five weight classes and the Eagles Codi Norman won the 135 pound class in the last head-to-head matchup with a 12-0 major decision. The Eagles' Kyle Walters was repeat winner and won his second crown at 145 with a second period pin. His victory brought the Eagles within six points of the Bobcats.

Next up was Edison's Robert Beatty who shared the regular season crown with his championship foe, Jackson's Chad Wilson. The two combatants fought tooth and nail with Beatty finally gaining the victory in a hard fought 9-5 victory. This pulled the Eagles within two with two more finalists left. Blennerhassett was done scoring for the night after the 135 pound class. At 165 pounds, the Eagles' second seeded Curt Radcliff came out to revenge a regular season lost against Belpre's Jeff Wettengel. Again, another hard fought match that looked like overtime with the score knotted at five all. But Radcliff had different plans as he was able to gain to his feet with 11 seconds left and then fought for an escape with 2.1 seconds left on the clock. HE held off Wettengel for the 6-5 victory and captured the team title for the Eagles with a two point lead.

The Eagles had a chance to extend their margin of victory with 190 pounder Adam Province but Ritchie County's gained his teams only victory of the tournament with a second period pin.

The tournament wrapped up with Hamilton's undefeated heavyweight, Ryan Dearman winning his title with a second period pin over VanDevender's Adam Hammell.

The two point victory was the closest in tournament history with next closest battle occurring over thirty years ago in 1970 when Franklin Jr. High defeated VanDevender Jr. High by six points. The team title is also the first for rookie head coach Randy Beatty.
