JANUARY 10TH, 2021: WVU defeats Ohio 36 to 3.
DECEMBER 5TH, 2021: Ohio defeats WVU 30 to 9.
We must ask ourselves how a program such as Ohio improves so quickly in less than one year. We must also ask ourselves how a program can go down hill so rapidly in less than one year.
I have copied and pasted the results below. Below the results, I have commentary doing a comparison by weight class to evaluate each program.

Now to look at each weight class:
125: Last season WVU had Cardinale, eventual All American, ready to go. Ohio didn’t have a man available. WVU got the forfeit and an easy 6. Eleven months later, Cardinale is yet to step foot on the mat. Ohio was able to not only get a wrestler, but they got one that beat the wrestler WVU went out and got. I do not see too many major decisions in D1 college wrestling. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
133: WVU loses by decision two years in a row at this weight class. Different names on the mat at 133 both seasons. Neither team benefitted by having a seasoned, multi-year wrestler being in both duels. QUICK GLANCE SHOWS OHIO MAINTAINS.
141: WVU’s Boyd wins by decision last season. Yesterday, WVU’s Rea loses by pin. Boyd is also up to 149 this season and didn’t compete. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
149: Last season, a young first year freshman Roberts wins via shutout 4-0. Eleven months later, Roberts is back at 149 and gets tech falled 16-0. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO
157: Last season, Hornfeck wins an easy decision 10 to 4. This season, Hornfeck is back at 157 but Ohio has a man that wins 3 to 0. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
Lets review 149 and 157. WVU has the same two wrestlers in the same weight classes. In 11 months, Ohio is able to bounce back with new faces and win.
165: In January, WVU wins with first year freshman Hall getting the major decision 9 to 0. Hall returns this season at 165 but now pins his Ohio opponent. Hall beats two different wrestlers, but does it easier this season. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO PEYTON HALL.
174: WVU’s Joll wins last January by way of a major decision 11 to 2. Eleven months later, Joll has lost wrestle offs to new man Robin. Robin is defeated this season 11 to 6. WVU gets a man better than what they had last season. Ohio obviously got a better man than what WVU got. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
184: Moomau wins last season in SV-1. This season, WVU loses 10-3 with Carmen. Carmen had won the wrestle off last season with Moomau. One could say that Carmen would have won against Ohio last season. But this season, Ohio was able to get the win. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
197: Last season, WVU had Adams, but he was given a forfeit. It is possible that both Adams and Cardinale might not have won by pin, thus, they would not have scored 6 point for WVU. This season, Moomau has moved up. Last season’s forfeit has been replaced with an Ohio guy who wins a 6-2 decision. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
285: This one is interesting. Both seasons, it is WVU’s Wolfgram vs Ohio’s Earnest. Wolfgram wins both encounters. Wolfgram is one of the few WVU wrestlers showing improvement. However, ole Earnest has also improved by closing the gap. Last season the score was major decision 13 to 4. This season, Earnest closed the gap to a 12 to 7 decision. Ohio lost the match, but improved one team point in doing so. QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT GOES TO OHIO.
Both teams have had eleven months to improve. Both teams are equal in changing the landscape of their team by way of incoming freshmen, wrestlers coming off redshirt, transfers, changes in strength training, changes in practice methods or even switching to light beer.
Regardless, how in the Hell does this happen??? WVU wins 36 to 3 and was given 12 points in forfeits. Eleven months later, they lose to the same program 30 to 9.

Bearhugger for coach?
Re: QUICK GLANCE SIGN OF IMPROVEMENT - Program vs Program
Pretty obvious reason for the difference in score. Our AA 125 is injured. Our Rd12 133 is awol. Our AA 197 not only skipped out on his RSSR year but also his “free year”. All three of those guys were expected to be back. So not very surprising that we are sucking this year.
Does anyone know where Sullivan is? Lol or what happened?

I would ALSO be unable to drive improvement for a wrestler that is in the program 3 to 4 years.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!
