Looking at starting a new preseason event in West Virginia, much like the NCAA Division I All-Star Classic or similar to the Dapper Dan. The event would take place late October, not on the weekend of Super 32. The event will consist of top ranked returning wrestlers split in to two teams based off of credentials provided on application. The event will utilize base weight plus 5 pounds and encourage applicants to apply for the weight class they project to wrestle in for the upcoming season.
This event would be ran as an open event, not in conjunction with the WVSSAC. Will look at recently retired, or newly inducted WV Hall of Fame Coaches, or Club coaches with outstanding history to be the honorary coaches in the corner to help further recognize their efforts.
Please provide some feedback on if you think that this would be an event that the wrestling fans of WV would support and if you think it could help improve the overall fan base of wrestling in the state. Any other ideas can be provided.
Could add five to ten youth matches as preliminary card to give fans a look at the future of WV Wrestling, which if you look at Flo, Nationals, TOC, and even your own state tournament, show a great future.
Again, provide feedback to let me know if I should pursue this idea / event.

Sounds like it could be really cool. I would love to come watch it.

Sounds interesting. Any concern with WVSSAC since it wouldn't be an open event? Not sure how they treat All-star events for underclassmen.

This is a great idea that should be pursued and placed into action.
This will also help get the first series of rankings off to a great start.
Also, it could serve as a preview to state tournament finals in a few cases.
Great idea and great forward thinking. I can tell you are not stuck in the 80s.

Hmm, hasn't that already been done in the past, 2011 or 2010 or both.

What were the results of this back in 2011 or 2010?

Do it by region.
A/AA and AAA from each region.
Region 3 would be hard to beat.

I hope this is pursued and implemented for the fall of 2018.
On a similar note, Christiansburg High School had a wrestling competition October 14th. The word I got was the event's participation has dropped off in the past two seasons. CBurg is not too far and is an option for next fall.

Re: 1st Annual WV All-Star Classic
This is an incredible idea. I really want to see this be implemented. I only come down for Regionals and States since graduating, this would give me another reason to come back down to WV. I participated in the OVAC vs MAC All-Star match when I was a senior, so this would be great for WV alone. But here's my questions: Would this be for the highest placing juniors that will be seniors that year? All classes? Where will it most likely take place? Huntington? I hope this comes to fruition and look forward to hearing about this more this season and offseason.
