19 of 28 state finalists were from Region 1.
5 of 14 weight classes had 2 Region 1 finalists.
There was at least one Region 1 wrestler in EVERY finals match!
Region Qualifiers who placed: (56 qualifiers from each region and 84 place winners each year)
R1: 35 - 62.5%
R2: 14 - 25%
R3: 16 - 28.6%
R4: 19 - 33.9%
There are 28 finalists every year:
R1: 19
R2: 1
R3: 2
R4: 6 (5 from Point Pleasant)
I think a last chance qualifier is in order. For those suggesting that we in Region 1 are saying the kids from other regions don't belong at the state tournament, this is nonsensical. In fact, it's the opposite. We are suggesting that the best wrestlers in the state should wrestle at the state tournament, and you are suggesting that the best wrestlers should take a backseat to inferior wrestlers simply because of location. THAT is absurd.

Region 1 did not disappoint at the State Tournament.
At 120# all 4 kids in the championship quarter finals were from Region 1, and all 4 placed in top 5.
At 126# the Region 3 champion lost to the Region 1 runner up and Region 1 3rd place kid. Three from Region 1 placed.

The same sound some of the Region 2, 3, and 4 champs made when they lost to Region 1 4th-placers in the first round this past weekend.
