The first annual Grapple For The Apple tournament will be hosted at Musselman High School on January 24, 2026.
Wrestlers will be placed in pools of 4 based on seed, they will complete their pool and then be placed in a 4-man bracket according to pool finish. All wrestlers will get 5 matches, and there will be a potential to add in extras if weight classes aren't filled. Entry Fee will be $350.

THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have a new wrestling event that is individual based. The commonly used team based duals tournament is outdated and does not meet the current state of WV wrestling. Why? Here is why:

1. We do not have an army of good teams with full line ups. This is evident with many of the WV State Duals qualification quads reducing down to duals or non-competitive tris.

2. We have plenty of teams with good to great wrestlers, mixed with beginners mixed with forfeits. In these dual tournaments, it is common for the 2 best wrestlers in the same weight class to NOT wrestle each other.

3. Team dual tournaments end up being forfeit collection contests. The top wrestlers might be lucky to get 2 matches and then collect 4 forfeits. Events like Fallen Heroes, The New Version of the Braxton County Invitational and the Grapple for the Apple eliminate forfeits, drive the best to wrestle each other and there is no bumping/running.

4. With the longer football seasons (everybody makes the playoffs, injunctions, lawsuits, etc), most schools cannot put a 14 man team together until after Christmas. Dual based tournaments struggle. Individual based tournaments can take off at the start of the season.

Great job Musselman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
