Coach,
I see that you had 39 teams. Did you set your tournament up as a 64 team bracket or a 32 team bracket? If the bracket was set at 32, how did you navigate the potential +7 wrestlers in each weight class?
I am simply looking for new ideas on how others make things happen.
Thank you and I appreciate your response.

Bearhugger you can look up all the information you want on trackwrestling.com just search knockout Christmas classic 12/28-29. Miller of Musselman had a great tournament losing a close match to the champ in the semis.

Thanks. I just have the one question. If Coachcash doesn't respond in a few days, I will take your advice and look this tournament up. I am just curious how they managed an odd number of 39 teams into brackets.

Just search for it and you will see your answer. Some weight classes were 64, some were 32. I see no pigtails, i see byes (except one weight class).

I trust your response and there is no need for me to check behind you. So they took a hybrid approach and went with 32 AND 64 brackets. Accommodated 39 teams, appear to be seeking even more teams and still had a few byes. Someday this high level of creativy will expand to other states.
Wait.............the WSAZ does this.

Yes, Smith and Someone are correct. Combination of 64 and 32 man brackets.
Miller had a great tournament wrestling back and taking 3rd.

Thank you for your response Coach. Here in West Virginia we have had a couple of tournaments that load up on teams beyond the "bracket" limit. It worked out well due to the amount of forfeits that most teams possess these days. Hopefully WV's other tournaments will follow your lead and do the same.
Based on what 100% of the parents I talk with, they want to come watch their son/daughter wrestle, not collect forfeits or byes.
If a northern team located in West Virginia made the trip all the way down to Florida, then your tournament must be something!!!
Good luck next season!

Sad that it’s scheduled the same weekend as The Powerade tournament at Canon-Mac, PA.

Who will fill their brackets?
