There is a lot of potential for some super wrestling. Lots of good out of state teams as well as in state. Kuddos Brooke on running a high quality tournament.

Agree. Erie Prep finished just behind South in the Powerade and we have 5 PA teams, 8 Ohio teams and 5 WV teams.

This was a good tournament last year and it should be fun to watch again this season. Coach Doyle and the volunteers who run the tourney do a great job.

I appreciate the kind words. However, Sean Beaman, one of our assistant coaches, is the mastermind behind this tournament. The Frank Ferguson Classic was around long before me, and I am just happy that I get the opportunity to be the coach at the host school. Sean works tirelessly year after year to get this tournament to a high level.

Max Lamm from Mars Pa. should be there Saturday I’m guessing at around 152-160. Incredible young man... This video is a few yrs old but very inspiring.

Is the list two posts above those seeded or just wrestlers of note?
Also, I noticed the names of Mars, PA wrestlers for weights 145 through 170. Does this mean that Max Lamm will not be there?

I can tell you as a alum from the school, someone who wrestled in it and had the honor to officiated it for 25 years it is great to see the CLASSIC making a comeback...... NOTHING but respect for Shawn and all the hard work he put in to get it here. It was once known as one of the Top 5 in the country and it looks like he is getting it back there. OUTSTANDING JOB! :D

Zach Collins (Park South) finished 3rd at OVACs 145lb. Not sure why he was snubbed in the seeding but I predict he will make some noise in this bracket.

That's kind of what prompted my question in the first place. You're right, he could really be a bracket buster.
Should we inquire as to the rules of the seeding committee (sorry, couldn't resist ;) )?
Hopefully Jarritt Flinn as a JV at 145 can get thrown into the mix to stir things up even more (No, not stirring up as in JV wrestling [sorry again]).
Looks like a lot of good wrestling will be going on. Good luck to all.

I will be on the lookout for Max at 138. Looked really good on the video from a few years back.

I wish I could make this tournament. I've watch some of these kids from youth and up.
106 Alejandro Herrara-Rondon is for real... don't see him losing. Guess that's why he's seed #1...

Louis Newell 120 Seneca Valley (2017 Pa runner up, 2nd Powerade)
Alex Hornfeck 145 Mars
Nick Montalbano 145 Seneca Valley
Justin Perkins 132 Penn Hills (not listed)
Are a few Pa guys to watch. I don’t know many of the Ohio guys except:
Nate Keaton 126 Circleville
Caleb Brooks 132 Circleville (Div 2 #1 seed)
Addison Fogle 126 Licking Valley
All very tough as well.

Seeding and JV is on your mind. We can't ignore these details forever.

Yes bearhugger, and you have a vision for where this sport should be heading (JVs etc..) unlike your critics. It amazes me when people will say on one post a kid needs to work harder (and life’s not fair) but yet that JVer could beat 85 to 90% of his competition around the state. Keep on keeping on. (Don’t forget the last man standing)

I promise the Last Man Standing will be coming soon. Critics???? Didn't know I had any. I have been advised recently to mind my own business. There sure are a lot of top secret stuff going on these days in wrestling. Makes you wonder.

If an old lady has a flat tire, does one help or do they mind their own business? Maybe her own brother slashed her tire.

If you walk down the street and see six guys beating one one guy, do you help the lone guy or do you mind your own business????

I could go on and on.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!

LOL, I can tell your a knowledgeable wrestling fan, sometimes you have woke me up to look at the other side eg: forfeit scoring LOL I thought it may have made it more competitive until I seen what coaches may do in that situation after reading your response

Looks like Erie Prep might give South a good battle. But South should come out ahead.

The interesting thing is that you have to get wrestlers through the first round the way the tournament is being conducted. I'm not saying anything negative about it, as it enables those in the "consolation" bracket to get at least 4 matches also. However, only those that win their first match will compete for places 1 through 6, and thus most points will come from these wrestlers and only 1 point per advance in"consolation" brackets (along with pin points, etc). You aren't going to be able to lose first (even to the number 1 seed) and then wrestle your way back to 3rd place. South is fortunate to have this many wrestlers seeded high and hopefully will not run into any bracket busters, as mentioned that possibly Zach Collins could be at 145 (or anybody's good JV wrestler that makes it into the tournament). Everybody better be ready "to get out of the shoot quickly" in the AM.

Excuse me, they actually better "get out of the chute" and not the shoot. Shoot, I hate it when that happens

True but didn’t they beat them at Powerade?
