New Mechanism for Seeding the State Wrestling Tournament Being Finalized

Partnership with eDisHarmony.com Announced

April 1, 2011

The Mountain State Secondary Schools Activities Commission (MSSSAC) has recently unveiled new plans for seeding the 2012 West Virginia State High School Wrestling Tournament.

Speaking for the MSSAC, long time tournament director Bill Archer of Huntington made the announcement in a news conference yesterday.

"I have always thought it a shame that seeding the state tournament depended so heavily on a history of winning and losing wrestling matches. With the new system, we will be able to take in to consideration the emotional needs of each wrestler, and give more attention to each wrestler's individual psycho-social profile," noted Coach Archer.

The new seeding process involves a partnership with the popular on-line dating service eDisHarmony.com. Their ultra-successful "29 dimensions of compatibility" have been distilled down to "10 dimensions of wrestling compatibility" for the purposes of seeding the tournament. Those psychological and ego-specific characteristics include...

The Ten Dimensions of Wrestling Compatibility

Emotional Temperament
- Self Concept
- Emotional management

Social Style
- Character
- Sociability

Cognitive Mode
- Intellect
- Sense of Humor

Physicality
- Physical Energy
- Appearance

Relationship Skills
- Communication Style
- Conflict Resolution

A beta version of the compatibility questionnaire has been produced. Wrestlers are encouraged to follow this link and complete the wrestling compatibility profile. All results will be analyzed and used to formulate the final seeding profile mechanism.
